Enel Green Power says Romanian wind farm fully operational

Enel Green Power, part of Italy’s Enel Group, said on Thursday its Moldova Noua wind farm in northeastern Romania became fully operational.

Enel Green Power launched the first 25 megawatts (MW) of the 48 MW Moldova Noua wind farm in December.

"The fully operational plant, comprised of 21 2.3 MW SWT wind turbines, [..] will be capable of generating some 130 million kilowatt hours, thus avoiding the emission of over 70 thousand tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere," Enel Green Power said in a statement.

Together with the Moldova Noua wind farm, Enel Green Power’s total installed capacity in Romania reached 292 MW. The company has others 206 MW under construction.

In March, Enel Green Power said it invested 330 million euro ($414 million) in wind farms in Romania last year, sharply up from 75 million euro in 2010.
