Enel Green Power Guatemala (EGPG) has inked a power purchase agreement (PPA) to supply 28.6 GWh per year of hydropower to the three local bottlers of The Coca-Cola Co (NYSE:KO) over the next two years.

The counterparties to the contract are Coca-Cola ABASA, Coca-Cola FEMSA and Coca-Cola Los Volcanes, EGPG announced on Friday. The customers will be able to offset 92,211 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions during the two-year period. The renewable energy delivered will also be certified with International Renewable Energy Certificates (I-RECs).

The bottlers of Coca-Cola brand products will receive the contracted energy from EGPG's hydropower plants (HPPs) in Guatemala, which have 164 MW of combined capacity. They are located in three departments: the 12-MW Matanzas and 4-MW San Isidro are located in Baja Verapaz, the 47-MW El Canada and 13-MW Montecristo in Quetzaltenango and the 87-MW Palo Viejo in Quiche.
