The Brazilian unit of Enel Green Power SpA has put into commercial operation the 194-MW Pedra Pintada Wind Complex in the Northeastern state of Bahia.

Built at a total cost of BRL 1.8 billion (USD 324.92m/EUR 297.63m), Pedra Pintada features 43 turbines spread across the municipalities of Umburanas and Ourolandia, the renewable energy company announced last week.

The wind complex should be capable of generating 894 GWh per year, enough power to meet the demand of 435,000 local homes.

Pedra Pintada is the second wind park to be put into commercial operation by Enel this year in Brazil. It follows the 348.3-MW Aroeira Wind Complex, also based in Bahia state.

At present, Enel Green Power has more than 6 GW of installed capacity in the country, of which over 3.3 GW are wind, 1.5 GW solar and 1.3 GW hydro, the firm noted.
