Enel Green Power SpA announced on Friday it has secured a power purchase agreement (PPA) to supply a total of 1.26 TWh of hydropower in Guatemala over ten years.

Through its domestic arm Enel Green Power Guatemala, the company has signed a contract with Comercializadora de Energia para el Desarrollo SA (CED), a Guatemalan power distribution company, part of agrifood and energy corporation Grupo Magdalena.

Under the PPA, CED's clients will receive the contracted energy from Enel's five hydropower plants (HPPs), with a combined capacity of 164 MW. These HPPs are located in three departments: the 12-MW Matanzas and 4-MW San Isidro are located in Baja Verapaz, the 47-MW El Canada and 13 MW Montecristo in Quetzaltenango and the 87-MW Palo Viejo in Quiche.
