DYCM to build 2-GW solar module factory in Southeastern US
Sep 18, 2024 10:41 CESTThe US renewables unit of Italian energy major Enel SpA (BIT:ENEL) has signed a deal to sell the electricity produced by a 27-MW solar park in Nevada to a luxury resort on the Las Vegas Strip.
Under the power purchase agreement (PPA), Enel Green Power North America (EGPNA) will supply power produced at its Wynn solar plant to the Wynn Las Vegas resort, Enel said on Thursday. The particular plant, the given capacity of which is in direct current (DC), is currently under construction at Stillwater, Churchill County, and is seen to start power generation in the first half of this year. It represents an investment of about USD 40 million.
The amount of electricity that will be sold to Wynn will exceed 43,900 MWh per year to meet up to 75% of the resort's peak power requirements.
The Wynn PV park will be located in proximity to a hybrid renewable energy plant using geothermal, photovoltaic (PV) and concentrated solar power and will use its connection infrastructure. The said complex is owned by EGPNA and has geothermal capacity of 33.1 MW, PV capacity of 26.4 MW and CSP capacity of 2 MW.
Overall, EGPNA operates some 100 plants, including hydropower, wind, geothermal and solar energy facilities, with a combined capacity of more than 4.2 GW.
