Enel X, part of Italian utility group Enel SpA (BIT:ENEL), will build two solar self-consumption systems totalling 3.5 MW for fellow Italian home appliances manufacturer Smeg.

Enel X, which provides advanced energy solutions, will install one solar PV system of 1.9 MW at Smeg’s headquarters in Guastalla, the province of Reggio Emilia, and one 1.6-MW array at its factory in Bonferraro, Verona.

The projects will use a total of 9,217 JA solar PV modules equipped with power optimisers, the Enel Group said. The two systems will generate some 4 GWh of power per year, and help Smeg’s facilities satisfy 25% of their electricity needs with own solar power production, according to the press release.

Enel X will also provide maintenance services for the solar plants for five years.
