3Sun, the Catania-based solar panel manufacturing company of renewables developer Enel Green Power, this week presented three new photovoltaic (PV) modules that should come to market in 2024.

The new offerings, M40, M40 BOLD and B60, are based on the company’s self-developed 3SUN CORE-H heterojunction technology (HJT) with a symmetrical cell design that allows a bifaciality factor of 95%. According to Enel, this is almost 20% higher than competing products.

The table below gives more information about the new offerings by 3Sun.

Product name Capacity Efficiency Application
3SUN M40 440-480 W -- Residential and commercial/industrial rooftops
3SUN M40 BOLD 430-470 W Up to 24.5% Distributed generation, designed to meet both practical and aesthetic requirements
3SUN B60 640-680 W 24% Utility-scale projects

The 3SUN modules, combining crystalline silicon with amorphous silicon layers, will be manufactured entirely in Italy at the company’s Catania Gigafactory, which is in the process of expanding its annual production capacity to 3 GW. While the expansion project is seen to wrap up by July 2024, from late 2025 onwards, the facility is expected to be producing tandem panels combining HJT and perovskite.
