Enel's generation unit in Peru wraps up merger by absorption Lima, Peru. Author: KaMpErƎ & Le-tticia.

Enel Generacion Peru SAA, the power generation unit of Italian utility Enel SpA (BIT:ENEL), has taken over renewables firm Enel Green Power Peru and its subsidiaries in a merger by absorption deal that resulted in a unified entity with an installed capacity of 1,839 MW.

The arrangement took effect on August 1, Enel Generacion Peru said, finalising the merger plan first conceived in October 2022 and fleshed out in April 2023.

The absorption extinguished Enel Green Power Peru and its subsidiaries Marcona and Los Pinos and gave Enel Generacion Peru their wind and solar energy assets to complement its portfolio comprising gas-fired thermal and hydroelectric plants.

As a result, the company now has 1,839 MW of installed capacity across four technologies and a portfolio of solar and wind projects of over 12,000 MW, according to Marco Fragale, Country Manager of Enel Peru.
