Sonnedix buys 80-MW solar farm in Italy, more purchases to follow
Sep 19, 2024 14:32 CESTItalian utility Enel SpA (BIT:ENEL) produced 50,170 GWh power from renewable energy sources in the first half of 2018, up 25.4% year-on-year, according to its Quarterly Bulletin.
Thermal and nuclear power generation fell by 12.6% to 70,947 GWh. The share of renewables was 41.4% of the company’s total output. When hydropower’s 33,470 GWh are excluded from the calculation, non-hydro renewables accounted for 13.8% of Enel’s generation.
Wind was the top non-hydro renewable energy source in the company’s portfolio, with power generation rising 34.2% to 11,398 GWh.
In mid-2018, Enel had 27.84 GW of hydropower capacity, 7.87 GW of wind, 804 MW of geothermal and 3.28 GW of solar and other renewables. Iberia and the Americas account for the bigger portion of wind capacity, while most of its solar assets are in the Americas.
