KKR fund increases tender offer price for Greenvolt
Sep 19, 2024 15:32 CESTItalian electric utility group Enel SpA (BIT:ENEL) generated 83.5 TWh of renewable and clean power worldwide in January through September, an increase of 3.3% year-on-year, according to the company’s latest operating data report.
Through its renewables unit Enel Green Power, the utility produces clean electricity with onshore wind farms, hydroelectric stations, solar farms, geothermal plants and in small part, battery energy storage systems.
During the reporting period, Enel’s hydro power production was significantly lower in Europe, and slightly down in North America. In Italy, where the company has more hydro capacity than anywhere else, the hydroelectric output fell by 34.4% on the year to 8.84 TWh. In the Iberian Peninsula, the hydro output was down by 29.9%.
Power production from wind and solar farms, and plants classified as others, increased modestly in Italy, where the overall renewables output dropped by 25.2% on the year on low hydro resources. In Iberia, solar power production surged by 89.4%, the wind farm output rose by 3.6%, but Enel’s renewables ended the nine-month run with a 6.3% drop in production.
There was no shortage of hydro in the company's Latin American markets observed as a whole, with hydroelectric output going up by 2.6%. Production from wind farms, geothermal, and plants grouped as solar & others, jumped by 36.7%, 37% and 49.5%, respectively, across the region, Enel said in the report.
In markets labelled as the Rest of Europe, North America, and Africa, Asia & Oceania, the total power production from renewable energy technologies increased.
Enel closed the period with 51,563 MW of installed renewable energy capacity at group level, which represented an increase of 8.5% in annual terms. As of the end of September, renewables account for 58.7% of the group’s total installed capacity
