Enemalta inaugurates 46 MW Mozura wind farm in Montenegro

Maltese state-owned company Enemalta will inaugurate on Monday its 46 MW Mozura wind farm in Montenegro's Ulcinj municipality, the Montenegrin government said.

The inauguration ceremony will be attended by Montenegrin prime minister Dusko Markovic and his Maltese counterpart Joseph Muscat, the government said in a statement over the weekend.

The project is developed by Enemalta in cooperation with Malta-based Malta Montenegro Wind Park.

Mozura will be the second largest wind farm in Montenegro and will produce some 120 GWh of electricity per year, helping to reduce the country's power imports, the government said.

Once Enemalta's long-term lease contract for the land plot where the wind farm is located expires in 2035, Mozura will go into ownership of the Montenegrin government.

Enemalta launched test production at Mozura in April.

Shanghai Electric Power Engineering, Enemalta's contractor for the construction of the facility, installed in April 2018 the first of the 23 wind turbines that make up Mozura. The wind farm will sell its electricity at a fixed price no higher than 95.99 euro ($106) per MWh during the first 12 years of operation, according to earlier information.
