Sonnedix buys 80-MW solar farm in Italy, more purchases to follow
Sep 19, 2024 14:32 CEST(SeeNews) -JUn 11, 2014 - Austrian utility Energie AG Oberoesterreich said on Monday it has acquired two solar power plants with a total capacity of 1.8 MW in northern Italy, expanding its solar power portfolio to almost 5 MW.
The solar parks were planned and constructed by an unnamed Carinthian-based partner, while Energie AG was responsible for the technical evaluation and construction supervision. The construction costs for the projects amount to a total of EUR 4.9 million (USD 6.6m), Energie AG said.
The 800-kW Stalla solar system and the 1-MW Yara 2 solar park, installed on the roof of a fertiliser plant, are both located in the town of Farrara, north of Bologna, and have already been put in operation. Energie AG expects the power plants to be highly profitable as they are located in northern Italy enjoying around 1,300 hours of sunshine. This compares with 1,000 hours of sunshine in Upper Austria.
Both power plants meet the requirements of Italy's subsidy scheme for renewable energy.
