German renewables developer and operator Energiekontor AG (ETR:EKT) said on Tuesday that it has put into operation a 12-MWp solar park in Germany, expanding its proprietary park portfolio.

The Seukendorf solar park was constructed in the district of Fuerth in the German federal state of Bavaria. It is expected to generate 13.6 million kWh of green power a year, which is sufficient to meet the needs of over 3,800 average households in Germany. The park is estimated to save around 9,400 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually, the company said.

The new facility will expand the total generation capacity of Energiekontor’s own portfolio to around 395 MW, spread over 37 wind parks and two solar parks.

The new solar park has a long-term power purchase agreement and will start to contribute to Energiekontor’s electricity generation income.

Energiekontor is currently working on four solar projects with a combined capacity of 180 MW and three wind park projects totalling around 42 MW. The facilities, which are under construction, will increase the company’s portfolio to over 610 MW.
