Cero reaches commercial operations at 100-MW solar farm in Greece
Sep 02, 2024 15:01 CESTGerman project developer and plant operator Energiequelle GmbH will expand into the Greek renewable energy market by opening a new branch with an office in Athens.
The milestone adds Greece as the sixth country where Energiequelle is represented with branches, in addition to Germany, France, Finland, Poland and South Africa, the company said on Wednesday.
Energiequelle has been doing business in Greece for several years. Last November, it appointed Polydoros Pagonis as county manager for the new branch and since then has built up “a valuable local network.”
Energiequelle will take advantage of Greece’s efforts to phase out coal by 2028, slash its total greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2030 and achieve net zero by 2050. Commenting on the Southern European country’s wind and solar market Pagonis said: “The country offers very good conditions for the development of renewable energies and will play an important role in the energy transition in Europe in the future.”
Since 2020, Energiequelle has set foot in three county markets, among which South Africa and Poland. The company expects “first project successes in the new countries in the near future.”
