Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTSerbia's first wind park will be connected to the country's grid by the end of the year, energy minister Aleksandar Antic said on Wednesday.
The wind park will have a capacity of 10 MW, a government statement quoted Antic as saying.
The official provided no other details about the project.
The minister said he expects to see other wind farms and other projects go live at a faster pace after the adoption of a standard format for power purchase agreements covering renewable energy sources.
Serbia is committed to a binding 27% target of energy from renewable sources in gross final energy consumption by 2020, compared with 21.2% in 2009.
In a recent country report, the Energy Community - a Vienna-based organization which aims to extend the EU internal energy market to Southeast Europe and beyond on the basis of a legally binding framework - said new renewable energy capacity put into operation in Serbia had reached only 26 MW since the adoption of the Renewable Energy Directive in 2012, concluding that the country is not on track to meet its 2020 targets.
