Infener to set up 20-MW green hydrogen hub in Germany
Sep 17, 2024 14:59 CESTRenewables investor Enerkon Solar International Inc (OTCMKTS:ENKS) last week unveiled plans to form a joint venture (JV) to build a “small” green hydrogen production plant in Cyprus.
The company, which operates in the US and the UK through its six subsidiaries, said it has received a proposal from “a significant partner” in Cyprus to jointly work on the project. Under the initiative, the parties will install several small to medium-sized facilities to produce green hydrogen through electrolysis. The process will be powered by electricity produced from renewable power plants.
Some of the facilities are set to be located on land with already operating wind or solar parks.
According to the plan, the green hydrogen will be sold to the European Union. A major focus will be put on the German market where Enerkon Solar says preliminary contracts are already in place.
At the start of May, Enerkon Solar bought 122 acres (49.4 ha) of commercial land in The Pennsylvania Turnpike, aiming to build a 20-MW solar-hydrogen complex there.
