OMV Petrom hires EPC contractor for 89-MW solar project in Romania
Nov 12, 2024 7:19 CESTVienna-based renewable energy company Enery has inaugurated a 51.4-MWp solar farm, coupled with a battery energy storage system (BESS), in northwest Romania.
The Sarmasag plant will now generate 64.8 GWh of clean electricity annually, enough to power 38,270 homes and avoid 16,208 tonnes of CO2 emissions. It is backed by 22 MWh of energy storage capacity, which represents Enery’s first BESS project.
The solar farm has a power purchase agreement (PPA) in place with Asahi Europe & International (AEI) to supply energy to its Ursus Breweries.
SUNOTEC and Huawei Digital Power acted as Enery’s construction contractors, while UniCredit Bank Romania served as a financing partner on the project.
Enery has a portfolio currently generating almost 700 GWh of clean electricity from 490 MW of assets. It has a pipeline of ongoing development projects with more than 8 GW across 11 countries.
