Engie to buy 76.8 MW of wind power assets in Peru

Peruvian power producer Engie Energia Peru SA (LIM:ENGIEC1) said that it has signed an agreement to acquire companies that own 76.8 MW of wind power assets in the Andean country.

The package includes the 18.4-MW Duna and 18.4-MW Huambos operational wind farms, and a pair of greenfield wind projects, Naira I and Naira II, each of 20 MW. The assets are located in the Peruvian region of Cajamarca.

Financial details were not disclosed. Engie Energia Peru also did not name Spanish renewables company Grenergy Renovables SA (BME:GRE) as the seller.

Grenergy connected Duna and Huambos to the grid in early 2021. The two Nairas are listed as projects in development in Grenergy’s latest financial report.

Engie Energia Peru, which is part of French utility Engie SA (EPA:ENGI), said that the acquisition will enable it to boost its installed renewables capacity to over 600 MW and expand its geographic reach in the country. The two Nairas will be added to the company’s roughly 1,200-MW strong portfolio of wind and solar projects in development.

Engie Energia Peru will need regulatory approval before it can close the deal, it added.
