Engie wins Faurecia contract to install 60 MWp of on-site solar

Engie SA (EPA:ENGI) announced on Thursday that it has been awarded a contract to install around 60 MWp of solar panels for French car parts maker Faurecia SE (EPA:EO) at its sites in 14 countries.

The scope of the contract spans installation works at Faurecia locations in Brazil, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Mexico, Morocco, The Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, South Africa and the United Kingdom, the French utility group said.

The news came as Engie’s Portuguese peer EDP - Energias de Portugal SA (ELI:EDP) made a separate announcement that it won a contract to install 100 MWp of on-site solar panels at Faurecia’s locales in different markets. Both utilities were selected through a tender process that Faurecia prepared and executed in collaboration with accounting major KPMG.

Engie said that it will provide, install, operate and maintain the solar panels on behalf on the customer. The car parts company will procure the solar energy under 15-year power purchase agreements (PPAs).

All on-site projects are due to be in operation by the end of 2023.

Faurecia has set the target to make its industrial operations carbon neutral in terms of scope 1 and scope 2 emissions by 2025.
