NTPC’s green energy arm eyes USD 1.2bn from Indian IPO
Sep 19, 2024 11:52 CESTFrench energy group Engie (EPA:ENGI) and Moroccan Nareva Holding on Friday signed a partnership agreement to jointly to develop 5 GW to 6 GW new power generation and energy services projects in North and West Africa.
The two companies plan to extend their existing partnership in Morocco to Egypt, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Ghana and Cameroon, in particular. They target to build a portfolio of 5,000 to 6,000 MW between 2020 and 2025, producing the equivalent of the average consumption of more than 10 million families in the countries concerned.
"Strong partnerships are at the heart of Engie's strategy in Africa," said Isabelle Kocher, Engie CEO.
"This agreement represents a new milestone in our relationship with Engie," Ahmed Nakkouch, Nareva President and CEO, added.
Engie (then still GDF) teamed up with Nareva on the construction of the 301 MW Tarfaya wind farm in southwestern Morocco. Still, the largest wind farm in Africa, it was put on stream at the end of 2014 with 131 turbines of 2.3 MW each made by Germany's Siemens (ETR:SIE).
