Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTEni Tunisia BV, a subsidiary of Italian oil and gas major Eni SpA (BIT:ENI), and state-owned oil company Entreprise Tunisienne d’Activites Petrolieres (ETAP) on Wednesday inaugurated a 5-MW solar power system in southern Tunisia.
The photovoltaic (PV) installation will power Eni's production plant in the Adam concession in the south of Tataouine Governorate, saving 6,500 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions annually. The solar park also includes a 2.2 MWp/1.5MWh battery storage system, which will help ease integration with existing gas turbines.
The hybrid generation system, combining gas, solar power and storage, is one of the most innovate in the world, according to Eni.
As part of Eni's partnership with ETAP, a project to develop a 10-MWp solar park in the city of Tataouine is underway. The project was awarded in a public tender by the Tunisian energy ministry. The solar farm will sell the power it generates to Societe Tunisienne de l'Electricite et du Gaz, Eni said.
