Algerian state-owned company Sonatrach and Italian oil and gas major Eni SpA (BIT:ENI) have received bids from 34 international firms for the construction of a 10-MW solar park in Algeria, Reuters said today.

A Sonatrach source told the news agency that Carlo Gavazzi Impianti Spa, Belectric GmbH, Cobra Instalaciones y Servicios SA, Engie Fabricom SA and JGC Corporation have made offers separately. At the same time, Consolidated Contractors Group and KPV Solar GmbH, as well as Yingli Energy Co Ltd and China National Technical Import and Export Corporation (CNTIC) have made joint bids, according to the source.

The 10-MW solar power plant is planned to be built at the Bir Rebaa North (BRN) oil field.

Eni and Sonatrach announced the project in September 2016, a few months after their top executives discussed a strategic cooperation agreement on renewable energies in Algeria.
