Eni SpA (BIT:ENI) said on Wednesday it will assess the technical and economic feasibility of a solar project in Ghana with a capacity of between 20 MW and 50 MW.

The Italian oil and gas major has entered into a cooperation agreement with the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) for the development of renewable energy projects in the country, including the above-mentioned solar scheme. Eni will look into the possibility of building the plant in the Northern Savannah Ecological Zone (NSEZ), it said.

SADA is an independent and autonomous statutory corporation tasked to provide a framework for the long-term development of the NSEZ.

In May, the Italian company announced a plan to install over 420 MW of renewable energy capacity in the vicinity of other company-owned plants both at home and abroad.
