Israeli renewables developer Enlight Renewable Energy Ltd (TLV:ENLT) has begun commercial operations at the 207-MW Genesis Wind farm, described as Israel’s largest renewable energy project.

The company said on Monday that the project started selling electricity on October 13, with a 180-MW portion of the 39-turbine facility achieving commercial operations. The remaining five turbines are set to go online following the completion of final tests.

The wind farm was connected to Israel’s grid in June. The project involved the construction of a 27-km (16.8 miles) underground high-voltage transmission cable to connect the Golan Heights to the grid, the developer explained.

Representing a USD-340-million (EUR 323m) investment, Genesis Wind is expected to yield revenues of between USD 49 million and USD 51 million and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of USD 39 million-41 million in its first full year of operation.
