US solar microinverter and battery systems maker Enphase Energy Inc (NASDAQ:ENPH) has introduced its IQ8 microinverters and batteries in Greece, thus setting foot in the Greek photovoltaic (PV) market.

Through the company’s entry into the Balkan country, it aims to meet rising demand for solar-plus-storage capacity after a programme to subsidise such projects was launched by the national government, Enphase said on Monday.

In Greece, Enphase will be marketing three types of microinverters with a peak output of 330 W, 366 W and 384 W, respectively, as well as batteries of the IQ series. The microinverters allow pairing with a range of solar modules up to 560 W DC.

“The residential solar and battery market in Greece is poised for solid growth, and the technologies will play a critical role in decarbonising and strengthening the country’s power grid,” said Dave Ranhoff, chief commercial officer at Enphase Energy.

Greece has committed to deploying 2 GW of residential solar PV capacity by the end of the decade. The solar-plus-storage subsidy scheme covers up to 65% of the solar plant costs and roughly 90% of the costs for the integrated batteries. The installed facilities will take part in a net-metering programme and support the grid during peak load shifts.
