IEA urges proactive measures to integrate renewables
Sep 18, 2024 11:17 CESTChinese wind turbine manufacturer Envision Energy on Tuesday announced it has hooked to the grid a prototype of its EN-256/16.7 offshore wind turbine, which, the company says, is the most powerful in the world.
Developed specifically for deep-sea environments, the EN-256/16.7 employs a modular design and reserves self-developed tooling interfaces. Envision explains that this allows for only simple tools to be used for component replacements. Moreover, modular subcontracting and pre-assembly strategies help simplify the transportation of the turbine.
With 15.4 GW installed, Envision Energy rose to second place in BloombergNEF’s (BNEF) 2023 ranking of the top wind turbine makers, after Goldwind but ahead of Vestas.
