PNE wins 24 MW of onshore wind projects in German auction
Sep 19, 2024 8:35 CESTMay 30, 2013 - German utility E.on SE (ETR:EOAN) has started the installation of the foundation protection for its Amrumbank West offshore wind farm, the company announced Wednesday.
The technology used is the so-called scour protection, or two layers of sand-filled geotextile bags, which ensures the sea current will not wash away the sand around the mast foundations.
E.on has chosen this technology in an attempt to cut the expenses for construction and operation by 40% by 2015.
Danish shipyard Peter Madsen A/S was commissioned with the installation of the sand bags around the monopile foundations of the wind farm north-west of the Helgoland archipelago.
Apart from Amrumbank West, E.on is building two more wind farms in the North and Baltic Seas. The total output of the 80 3.6 MW turbines installed for Amrumbank West will be 288 MW. The wind farm is scheduled for completion in the middle of 2015.
