Statkraft connects 44.5-MW solar farm to grid in Spain
Sep 19, 2024 15:28 CESTIreland-based gasification technology and engineering company EQTEC plc (LON:EQT) and Spanish engineering firm Tresca Energia SA have decided to join forces in renewable natural gas (RNG), starting with a project for a production plant in northwestern Spain.
The companies have signed a collaboration framework agreement to combine EQTEC's technology with Tresca's expertise in developing renewable energy projects into initiatives focused on RNG or methanol generation from synthesis gas.
“We have already noted that our go-to-market focus will increasingly shift from geography per se, toward strong, capable partners able to mobilise funding and apply professional disciplines for stable, steady progress with projects integrating EQTEC technology,” CEO David Palumbo noted in a statement released by the company today.
The first project under the partnership is a plant expected to be able to convert about 50,000 tonnes of biomass into RNG annually. A feasibility study is already underway for the facility that will be built in Castilla y Leon. The parties have already attracted interest from a Spanish bank to provide financing as well as from a potential off-taker for its output.
“We are convinced that EQTEC will provide us with a modular and scalable capability that we can replicate in many of our future projects, starting with a biomass-to-RNG plant near our base in Leon, Spain,” said Tresca’s CEO Francisco Carro.
