UK-based infrastructure investor and fund manager Equitix has obtained EUR 271 million (USD 288.1m) in bank financing to pay for works on a portfolio of hybrid renewable energy projects in Spain.

The funding was granted by Spanish bank Banco Santander, law firm Ashurst, which advised Equitix, said in a press release on Tuesday.

The money will be used to refinance, develop and build hybrid renewables combining wind, solar and battery energy storage. The projects have a combined capacity of over 326 MW, Ashurst said in the brief press statement.

Few months ago, Equitix announced acquisitions of four wind farms, two operational and two under construction, in Spain. The purchases also included projects to co-locate solar photovoltaic plants and battery storage systems with the wind farms to create hybrid facilities and maximise grid capacity usage, Equitix said at the time.
