Swedish ICT solutions provider Ericsson (STO:ERIC-B, NASDAQ:ERIC) said today it has raised EUR 500 million (USD 545.5m) through the issuance of a green bond, its first ever, with the fresh capital to be exclusively used for investments in energy efficiency and renewable energy.

“The proceeds raised will support R&D investments in enhanced energy performance in both existing and future solutions. This will strengthen operators’ competitiveness and enable further societal climate action through solutions made possible by mobile connectivity,” said CFO Carl Mellander.

The 4.5-year green bond comes under Ericsson's Euro Medium Term Note Program (EMTN) and is aligned with the company’s Green Financing Framework, according to a statement released today.

Citi, Credit Agricole CIB, Danske Bank, Deutsche Bank and SEB acted as joint bookrunners for the transaction.
