Irish state-owned energy company ESB has sealed a deal to purchase the owner of a 51.6-MW wind turbine complex in Ireland’s County Kerry and is seeking regulatory clearance for the move.

The proposed deal, the value of which has not been disclosed, has been referred to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC), official filings show.

The energy group’s subsidiary ESB Wind Development Ltd is buying Pallas Windfarm Ltd, which owns the 37.8-MW Clahane wind park and its 13.8-MW extension. Both plants are located in the town of Clahane and are generating electricity.

The competition watchdog is expected to conduct a preliminary investigation on the proposed deal. Third parties can make submissions related to the transaction until June 19.

According to local media reports, the sale of the two wind farms could be worth around EUR 55 million (USD 59.2m).

Pallas Windfarm is owned by The Renewables Infrastructure Group Ltd. In March, the investment firm said it had agreed to offload the entity behind the two wind parks to an unnamed party for some EUR 62 million as part of its strategic asset rotation.
