Estonia’s Consumer Protection and Technical Regulatory Authority (CPTRA) announced that no bids were submitted in the auction for the third area designated for the construction of a wind farm in the Baltic Sea which concluded on Thursday.

The country sought to award the Saare 3 sea area, spanning 20.1 square kilometres (7.76 sq mi), at a starting price of EUR 301,500 (USD 325,620).

Two companies, namely Deep Wind Offshore AS and OU Utilitas Wind, qualified to participate in the Saare 3 tender but neither of them submitted an offer.

In April, CPTRA announced that it had received 10 applications from four different bidders to take part in auctions for the right to build new offshore wind capacities in selected areas.

Deep Wind Offshore won the first two -- Saare 2.1, where it plans to deploy 98 machines of up to 1,560 MW, and Saare 2.2, where the building permit application envisages the construction of 56 wind turbines with a total capacity of up to 840 MW.
