Estonia's Enefit completes one wind project, starts another
Sep 06, 2024 10:27 CESTEstonia’s Consumer Protection and Technical Regulatory Authority (CPTRA) announced today that two online auctions will be held for the development of offshore wind farms in the Liivi 1 and Liivi 2 sea areas northwest of Ruhnu island.
CPTRA explained in a statement that it received competing applications for a superficies licence from seven qualified companies, which obliges the authority to hold the competitive bidding process. The seven applicants are OU Utilitas Wind, Liivi Offshore OU, Aker Offshore Wind Europe GmbH, VIRU KEEMIA GRUPP AS, Sunly Wind OU, Edel Offshore Wind OU and UAB Ignitis Renewables Projektai 6.
The auction for Liivi 2 is scheduled to take place in the period December 7-December 13, 2023, while the one for Liivi 1 will be launched on January 11 and will run until January 17, 2024.
The winners will be determined based on who made the highest bid. The starting prices amount to EUR 1.17 million (USD 1.25m) for Liivi 1 and EUR 1.72 million for Liivi 2.
CPTRA noted that the procedures for superficies licences and environmental impact assessments (EIS) will start within 90 days from the announcement of the winners, which will then be required to present their EIS programmes to the authority within 18 months.
Both Liivi 1 and Liivi 2 are located in an area that is suitable for the development of wind energy according to the Estonian maritime spatial plan.
The notices of auctions are available on the CPTRA website.
