Ethiopia’s Public-Private Partnerships Directorate General (PPP-DG) this week issued a Request for Pre-Qualification (RfQ) for up to 500 MW of solar power generating capacity divided into four projects.

This process is the second round of the Scaling Solar programme and concerns the Humera, Mekele, Welenchitti and Weranso projects.

Interested parties need to submit their applications by May 29, 2019. The next stage will see pre-qualified bidders participate in a Request for Proposals (RfP) process. The announcement says that international bidders are encouraged to find local private partners in order to take part.

The first round of the World Bank Group's Scaling Solar programme in Ethiopia took the form of a 250-MW solar tender that is yet to announce a winner.
