European Energy to build 115-MW solar park in Latvia

Danish renewables developer European Energy A/S today laid out plans to build a 115-MW solar photovoltaic (PV) park in Latvia, expecting to start feeding electricity to the grid by 2025.

The plant will be installed in the town of Broceni, in Courland region’s Saldus municipality in western Latvia. Currently in the final development stages, the project is set to create one of the Baltic country’s largest PV sites.

Once up and running, the solar farm will be capable of producing around 120,000 MWh of electricity annually. The output will be enough to supply around 57,000 local homes for a year.

European Energy has been operating in Latvia since 2021 and now has more than 1.5 GW of wind and solar projects in its development pipeline. By late 2023 and early 2024, the Danish group intends to launch construction of over 400 MW of wind and PV schemes in the country, it said.
