Danish renewables and e-fuels developer European Energy A/S has formed a partnership with Team FJ to explore and adopt renewable energy solutions, with a particular focus on renewable methanol, within the NASCAR Euro Series operations.

As part of the cooperation, European Energy will help NASCAR Europe introduce renewable methanol to power the car used in its official European championship. Furthermore, they will consider ways for renewable energy sources like wind and solar power, as well as green hydrogen, to take part in the decarbonisation of the NASCAR Europe facilities, operations and value chain.

“NASCAR Europe is committed to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in motorsports. Partnering with European Energy allows us to take significant strides toward a sustainable future for racing. This collaboration not only aligns with our long-term sustainability goals but also demonstrates our dedication to reducing our environmental impact while continuing to deliver the high-octane excitement that fans expect,” stated Jerome Galpin, President CEO of Team FJ, founder and organiser of the NASCAR Euro Series.

In a recent interview with Renewables Now, European Energy co-founder and CEO Knud Erik Andersen spoke about the company’s preference for e-methanol over green ammonia and the reasons for it.
