Renewables cover 77.3% of Portugal's power in Aug 2024
Sep 11, 2024 14:15 CESTDanish renewables developer Eurowind Energy A/S has purchased a 55-MW solar portfolio in Portugal currently in the advanced development stages and being developed by local company Insun.
The transaction covers a total of 11 photovoltaic (PV) projects of 5 MW each, most of which are aggregated in clusters of 15 MW. They are all located in the Aveiro district and are expected to reach the ready-to-build state by the second quarter of 2025, Eurowind announced today.
Once all projects are completed, they should be capable of generating enough clean electricity to meet the demand of some 36,100 households per year.
Eurowind Energy said it is now working on a tender process to award a contract for the Balance of Plant (BoP) construction activities, including all the civil, mechanical and electrical works, as well as the grid interconnection lines.
The Danish company is currently developing a 1 GW pipeline of wind, solar, energy storage and green hydrogen projects in Portugal.
