Japanese consortium to study floating vertical axis wind turbines
Sep 11, 2024 15:57 CESTJapanese wind power company Eurus Energy Holdings Corp said on Monday that it has commenced construction work on the 43-MW Eurus Odanosawa Wind Farm I & II project in Aomori prefecture, northern Japan.
The two-phase scheme involves the installation of a total of ten Siemens Gamesa turbines of 4.3 MW each. Seven of them will represent an extension to the 20-year-old Eurus Odanosawa wind farm, while the remaining three will replace the ten 1.3-MW machines that are already at the site. Commercial operation at the old facility will be halted in July 2025 to initiate the repowering process.
The expanded wind park, located in the Higashidoori Village, is scheduled to fully come back online in March 2027. Once up and running, it should be capable of meeting the demand of approximately 21,000 average households.
Japanese construction company Kandenko is in charge of the EPC work.
