Evensol completes two RNG sites in North Carolina Landfill

Renewable energy project developer Evensol LLC announced the commissioning of two renewable natural gas (RNG) facilities in North Carolina that will provide biogas for the production of renewable fuel for commercial fleet vehicles.

Initially, the two sites are each expected to produce up to 500,000 dekatherms of RNG annually by capturing landfill gas from Republic Services' landfills, according to a statement released on Monday.

The realisation of the Foothills Renewables Project in Caldwell County and the Upper Piedmont Renewables Project in Person County required investments of more than USD 110 million (EUR 102.4m) from Evensol and its partners, including equity from Duke Energy. Nearly USD 73 million of the cost was covered by loans guaranteed by the US Department of Agriculture.

The sites were designed and built by Energyneering Solutions LLC (ESI) which will be also the operator of the facilities. Air Liquide, Guild Associates, Perennial Energy, and Vilter Manufacturing were among the equipment providers.

The two plants have a supply contract with British oil and gas giant BP Plc, according to an earlier statement.
