Marmen to restart wind tower production for 350-MW Quebec project
Sep 18, 2024 16:11 CESTCanadian maritime services company Miawpukek Horizon Maritime Services has joined forces with compatriot EverWind Fuels Company to create a green fuel transshipment corridor in their home country.
The duo has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will pave the way for the shipment of green hydrogen and ammonia from EverWind’s proposed project on the Burin Peninsula in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador to its Point Tupper transshipment facility in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.

Specifically, EverWind and Miawpukek Horizon will work to obtain access to a coastal LPG tanker that will potentially carry the green fuel. The vessel will be managed and crewed by Miawpukek Horizon, which will aim to recruit mostly Indigenous mariners for the job. Additionally, the partners plan to develop specific operating procedures for green fuel handling.
“This marks an important step in the development of an Atlantic Canadian green energy hub, with jobs being created here in Newfoundland and Labrador," said EverWind CEO’s Trent Vichie.
EverWind’s project on Burin Peninsula calls for the installation of a wind farm with a total capacity of more than 2 GW, which will generate electricity for the production of green hydrogen and ammonia. The scheme was shortlisted in a call for wind-hydrogen developments in July.
