Exergy International Srl, the Italian geothermal technology company specialising in Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) systems, announced last week that it has been contracted to deliver a 24-MWe project in Turkey for local energy company Hez Enerji.

Exergy will design, engineer and supply a binary plant in Aydin consisting of two 12-MWe Radial Outflow Turbines (ROT) and an air-cooled condensing system. The so-called Bilecik HEZ Morali JES-1 unit is expected to be delivered by the second quarter of 2024, while its start-up is scheduled for later that year.

The turbines for the project will be manufactured locally by Exergy’s Turkish subsidiary, thus allowing the customer to benefit from the Made in Turkey incentives.

Hez Enerji is developing a total of nine geothermal licence areas in the regions of Aydin, Manisa, Denizli, Bilecik and Nigde. Their geothermal potential has been estimated at around 300 MWe of total capacity.
