Exim Bank India to finance 35 MW of solar in Congo

The Export-Import Bank of India, also known as Exim Bank, has provided loans totalling USD 83 million (EUR 73m) to the Democratic Republic of the Congo so it could finance the installation of three solar power plants.

The three lines of credit by the Exim Bank will support solar projects in the provinces of Karawa, Mbandaka and Lusambo, with a combined capacity of 35 MW. The announcement gave no further details about the schemes.

To date, Exim Bank has extended a total of USD 578 million in credit lines to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, covering projects in the fields of hydropower, power transmission and distribution, solar power, cement production, as well as hand pumps and submersible pumps installation.
