Madrid-based investor Exus Management Partners has set up a joint venture (JV) called GenuX with Swiss mining and commodities trading company Glencore Plc (LON:GLEN) to pursue renewable energy development in Latin America.

GenuX will aim to develop a multi-gigawatt portfolio, combining Exus Management Partners' expertise in construction, development, and operation with Glencore's extensive knowledge of material resources and emerging markets, Exus said. The integrated approach will set a new standard for renewable energy project procurement in the region.

Spanish law firm Cuatrecasas, which advised Exus in the establishment of GenuX, said the JV would develop projects in Mexico and other Latin American countries. No other details were disclosed.
