Madrid-based investor Exus Management Partners said on Tuesday that it has launched a standalone renewables investment fund to pursue the development and acquisition of wind and solar power assets in the Iberian Peninsula and other Western European markets.

The investment manager expects to close the first round of fundraising at the end of 2022 and reach the closing target of EUR 50 million (USD 51.4m) in the first half of 2023.

Exus Partners Energy Fund I (EPEF I) will spend 70% of the capital within the Iberian market and the remainder on “carefully selected opportunities” across Europe.

The fund’s strategy will focus on a co-investment, low-risk, diversified approach to development and acquisition, keeping operational costs down and exploring improvements such as re-powering, or hybridisation, Exus said.

Exus will be in charge of managing all assets that EPEF I acquires.
