French car parts maker Faurecia SE (EPA:EO), a company of FORVIA group, will offtake almost all of the output from the 146-MW Klevberget onshore farm in Sweden of Renewable Power Capital, a London-based platform backed by CPP Investments.

The companies have signed a 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA) for the 24-wind turbine wind farm, which is currently being constructed near Sundsvall, Vasternorrland County and is expected to go live in November 2023.

“This new PPA signed in 2022 will allow FORVIA to cover more than 70% of its needs from the end of 2023, in Europe,” Remi Daudin, Sustainable Transformation vice president at FORVIA, said in an announcement on Friday.

The new PPA alone will cover more than 40% of the annual power consumption of FORVIA’s European plants.

Including existing contracts, FORVIA has a portfolio of 37 wind turbines, while solar panels are also being installed at more than 150 Faurecia sites. The group expects to achieve neutrality for scope 1 and 2 carbon dioxide emissions by 2025 and net-zero emissions by 2045.

Steve Hunter, head of Power Markets for RPC, said that the virtual PPA adds to RPC’s track record of securing long-term cash flows without the need for subsidies. In the past year, RPC has signed 10-year PPAs for three onshore wind projects in Finland.
