Brazilian fertilizer company Mosaic Fertilizantes do Brasil SA has signed an off-take contract with local renewable energy developer Casa dos Ventos to buy a portion of the power generated by the 202.5-MW Umari wind complex which is currently under construction in the northeast of the country.

Under the 14-year power purchase agreement (PPA), the Brazilian arm of Florida-based Mosaic Company (NYSE:MOS) will procure clean power from 30 average megawatts (MWa) of the complex, starting in 2026, Casa dos Ventos announced on Thursday.

The contracted electricity will meet 30% of Mosaic Fertilizantes's energy needs until 2039.

The Umari wind complex is located between the municipalities of Monte das Gameleiras, Sao Jose do Campestre, Serra de Sao Bento and Lagoa D'anta in Rio Grande do Norte state. It will feature 45 turbines in total.

The partnership with Casa dos Ventos, under which Mosaic Fertilizantes can also become a self-producer of clean energy, is subject to the approval of Brazil's antitrust regulator CADE.
