Fiji deploys 2,400 residential solar systems - report

Aug 14, 2012 - The Department of Energy (DOE) of Fiji has finalised the installation of 2,400 residential solar systems in villages in the Northern Division of Fiji, Chinese news agency Xinhua reported yesterday.

The total cost of the systems is JFD 5.2 million (USD 2.9m/EUR 2.4m), the news agency said, citing the DOE's Energy Director Peceli Nakavulevu.

Nakavulevu was also cited as saying that home solar systems installation in the maritime region of Fiji would start soon with the support of the Japanese government through the Pacific Environment Community Fund.
