Sep 18, 2014 - The five Latin America countries with the greatest geothermal potential have a combined resource of some 13,000 MW, a recent report by the Latin American Energy Organisation (OLADE) shows.

Chile has the biggest potential at 3,350 MW, followed by Peru with 2,990 MW and Bolivia with 2,490 MW. The other two in the top five are Colombia and Argentina with geothermal energy potential of 2,210 MW and 2,010 MW, respectively.

OLADE was created in 1973 with the signing of the Lima Agreement. The organisation aims to contribute to the integration, sustainable development and energy safety of its 27 member states.
