Gazelle Wind Power, a Dublin-based developer of a floating offshore wind platform, has agreed to acquire a majority stake in Spanish-based naval architect and marine consulting firm Faustino Carceller SL to speed up the development of its platform.

Gazelle recently unveiled its third-generation floating offshore wind platform technology at WindEurope 2023 in Copenhagen. The design uses shipbuilding industry processes for sourcing materials, construction, assembly and transport.

The floating wind specialist expects that F. Carceller’s experience and expertise will expand its in-house capabilities in areas such as design, refitting and conversion, stability calculations, construction management and appraisals.

“Through F. Carceller’s team of top-tier technical personnel, Gazelle is better positioned to accelerate engineering processes, project development, R&D, and overall innovation activity,” said Gazelle chief executive Jon Salazar.

F. Carceller will operate as an independent subsidiary of Gazelle.

“This agreement allows us to continue servicing the needs of shipowners and shipyards to the highest ability—while giving us and our customers a pathway into the burgeoning offshore wind market,” commented F. Carceller chief executive Pablo Carceller.
