FLSmidth CEO says has no plans to become Vestas chairman - report

Jan 17, 2012 - Jorgen Huno Rasmussen, CEO of Danish FLSmidth & Co A/S (CPH:FLS), will chase re-election as member of the board of wind-turbine maker Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) but not the chairman position, he told Reuters yesterday.

Vestas downgraded its 2011 guidance two times in three months, which led to rumours that some of the firm's investors sought to replace the current chairman Bent Carlsen.

Rasmussen, chief executive of cement and minerals systems provider FLSmidth since 2004, is an experienced member of Vestas's board and would get support for his election as chairman of the turbine maker, according to Reuters. Rasmussen, however, rejected the speculations. He is just standing for re-election as member of the board, he said.

Vestas's board members need to be re-elected on an annual general meeting on March 29.
